mention of meditation usually brings a wise old man came to mind sitting in a cave in a transverse position. You do not have to be old or meditate in a cave. In fact, meditation is something that everyone can learn and practice in our daily lives so that our mind calm and carefree. In the turbulent and stressful today, many people are often tense, anxious and unhappy. Meditation is a useful tool to help us overcome stress and find inner peace so desperately need.

The essence of meditation is to calm the mind. Every day, thousands of thoughts racing through our minds. Therefore, we do not have a clear mind and focused. It’s like a stormy sea churning sediment causes the water to be cloudy. When the sea is calm, deposition of sediments and the water will become clear. Similarly, through meditation, we learn to calm the mind and get rid of distracting thoughts, so that our mind clear and alert. We will feel relaxed and refreshed. If we are masters of meditation, we can easily change our conscious mind peace positive or negative. So we will be happier and feel more calm.

Meditation is not something that is difficult to learn. The key is practice. The length of time to think depends on how long you have. On a busy day, you can choose to spend only 10-15 minutes meditation. If time permits, you can always try to meditate over a longer period of up to one hour.

Try these simple steps to start.

* Find a quiet place so that you can not distracted by the noise.
* Sit in a comfortable position. You can sit cross-legged or otherwise. You can also sit on the chair, if you wish. Try to keep your back fairly straight, so that your mind is not tired, and you do not feel tired so easily.
* Close your eyes gently and breathe naturally through your nose.
* Turn your attention to your breathing. As you inhale, notice that your stomach expands. When you exhale, it contracts notice. This movement of expansion and contraction in the stomach as you breathe, is the central contact point for you when you meditate. If you do not feel much movement, gently with your hand on your stomach and you can feel better.

It is very common that after a short period by noting the movement of the abdomen, your mind starts to wander off and think of something else. If you notice this, gently bring your attention to the center and saw the stomach begin to move again. Whenever your mind wanders, simply return to the point of contact again. If you can not concentrate, do not worry, just keep trying. The most important thing is not discouraged and quit after a few attempts. Be patient and keep practicing. With a little practice, you will find that your concentration and improve your mind wander less. Be open and give yourself time to experience the true benefits of meditation.
